Volunteers from the Birmingham office of national law firm Mills & Reeve LLP have completed two projects for WellChild, the national charity for sick children.
16-year-old cancer sufferer Karla Clarke, from Bedworth, received a bedroom make-over courtesy of Mills & Reeve staff Dawn Brathwaite, Surjit Deuer, Charlotte Mawdesley, Laura Taylor, Emma Farmer, Carolyn Martin, Laura O’Donnell and Lauren Grieve.

The Turkish Embassy has chosen Birmingham for its first trade commission outside London.
The organisation has opened an office at 11 Waterloo Street, as a base for new chief commercial counsellor Tankut Aydin, who will be responsible for facilitating trade between Turkey and the Midlands. The Embassy currently has four trade commissioners, three in London and one in Birmingham. A fifth is planned for a new office in Scotland.

Birmingham-based contractor Willmott Dixon is helping a care home in Northfield save energy and cut costs by installing 150 sq m of Photo-Voltaic (PV) panels on its roof.
Willmott Dixon has invested nearly £100,000 to install the PV system to provide low cost energy at the 87-apartment Saxon Court development, on Turves Green Road. The firm recently completed the construction of the facility on behalf of Housing 21, the UK’s largest non-profit provider of care, health and housing for older people.

CBRE’s industrial agency team in Birmingham has been instructed on a major new development scheme in Banbury, Oxfordshire.
The 60-acre site, which is situated at junction 11 of the M40, is being developed by Barwood Developments Limited, with funding from the British Airways Pensions Fund.
CBRE has been appointed as joint agents, along with White Commercial, to market the scheme, called Central M40, to potential occupiers. Up to 1.24 million sq ft of prime industrial and distribution space can be built on the site, with design and build units from 100,000 sq ft.

Two former vehicle dealerships in Digbeth are being put to good use as a new training facility for students from South Birmingham College.
The College has converted the former Hartwell showrooms on the High Street into a new campus called the Fusion Centre, which will accommodate its fashion and textiles, performing arts and hair and barbering courses. There will also be a warehousing, logistics and forklift truck training centre on site.
