Top honours for Black Country law firm at Legal Awards

Black Country law firm Higgs & Sons proved it can mix it with Birmingham’s legal elite after it was named Law Firm of the Year at the Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards.

The firm beat of stiff competition from fellow finalists Browne Jacobson, DLA Piper, Eversheds and HBJ Gateley Wareing in the 16 partners and above category.

Digital forensics expert joins Deliotte

Business advisory firm Deloitte has expanded its forensic and dispute services practice in Birmingham with the appointment of Paul Slater as assistant director.

Deloitte launches crisis management smartphone application

Business advisory firm Deloitte has launched a new smartphone application to help businesses manage disasters and crises.

The application, called ‘Bamboo’, is the first one of its kind in this field and is not reliant on mobile network connectivity to work.

Bamboo works by storing up-to-date disaster procedures and action-plans on employees’ mobile devices, such as the Blackberry or iPhone. Management can communicate with their employees immediately to inform them of an incident, verify their safety and location, and communicate necessary actions and contact details – all via their handsets. A group of legal heavyweights are getting ready to do battle to find out who will win the title of Law Firm of the Year at the Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards 2011.

Heavy-hitters Browne Jacobson, DLA Piper UK, Eversheds, HBJ Gateley Wareing and Higgs & Sons will be going toe-to-toe in the 16 partners and over category at the event, which is set to take place at the International Convention Centre on the 24 March. 

The winner of the coveted title will join an illustrious list of previous recipients of the award, including last year’s winner Pinsent Masons. Continue reading
