Amey account director wins ‘Facilities Manager of the Year’

Amey, one of the UK’s leading public service providers, picked up a prestigious award at the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) Investors in FM Excellence Awards.

Andy Ractliffe, an account director at Amey, was chosen as the overall winner in the Facilities Manager (FM) of the Year category, which recognises outstanding personal performance and career development.

Graduates take a step on career ladder with Amey

With graduates across Britain facing a challenging career search, 17 lucky young people, including seven in Birmingham, have taken their first steps on the career ladder by joining support services company Amey’s graduate training programme.

More than 250 people have taken part in the programme since the scheme launched in 2006, and the company is already planning for its 2010 intake.

Birmingham City Council has today announced Amey as the preferred bidder for its £2.7bn highways maintenance and management private finance initiative (PFI) contract.

The contract is a substantial boost for the region and will increase employment and make a real difference to the local highway infrastructure. More than 300 jobs will be created in the city, with a further 300 staff likely to transfer from Birmingham City Council to work on the project with Amey following financial close of the deal.

Amey chooses Colmore Plaza for International Design Hub

Amey, one of the UK’s leading public services companies, is forging ahead with plans to open a new International Design Hub in Birmingham, selecting Colmore Plaza as its preferred location. 

The company, which already has a number of offices in Birmingham, has agreed terms for a ten-year lease on the 4th and 5th floors of the prestigious city centre building, in one of the biggest office deals this year.

The International Design Hub will provide infrastructure design services for central and local government in the UK, as well as clients around the world.

Road users across the West Midlands will this week begin to benefit from a change to how Highways Agency services are delivered in the region.

From Wednesday 1 July, the Highways Agency’s new Managing Agent Contractor (MAC) for area 9, Amey, will start its £300m, five year contract.

Amey awarded two year contract extension with Centro

Support services company Amey has been awarded a two-year extension to its consultancy contract with Centro, the West Midlands Transport Authority.

The company, which is one of two firms bidding for the £2.7bn Birmingham City Council highways maintenance contract, will continue to provide Centro with a range of consultancy services, including project management, planning, feasibility, preliminary and detailed design, public consultation, cost estimating and construction, design and management (CDM) co-ordination.
