Car park sold for £1.1m

A car park close to the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham has been sold for £1.1 million.

A client of OLIM Investment Managers has acquired the freehold site from a private Irish investor.

Situated on Farm Street, Hockley, the 120-space car park is let to Signet Trading Ltd, the largest retail jeweller in the UK and USA, for £80,859 per annum for a further 18 years.

The site serves as the main car park for Signet’s UK administrative office, which is adjacent to the car park. Continue reading

Staycity checks in at Newhall Square

 

 

 

ROSB has secured a major pre-letting at its Newhall Square development to serviced apartment operator Staycity, for what will be Birmingham’s biggest aparthotel.

Staycity is to open up to 190 apartments to complement its existing 78 at Birmingham’s Arcadian Centre, Hurst Street.

Assay office relocation to kick-start regeneration at St Georges

The St Georges Partnership has secured the relocation of the Birmingham Assay Office for its St Georges’ development in the Jewellery Quarter.

The Assay Office, founded in 1773, is to build a new headquarters on a plot of land at St Georges, incorporating a further piece of adjacent land recently acquired from Birmingham City Council. Continue reading

Education Trust moves to Newhall Street

RO Developments' 144 Newhall Street has been let to Ormiston Academies Trust

RO St Bernards (ROSB) has let 144 Newhall Street, Birmingham, to Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT).

The non-profit organisation, which is dedicated to raising educational standards, has taken the whole of the refurbished building, comprising 4,288 sq ft/398.35 sq m.

The organisation works with schools, teachers, parents and the community to improve education and support young people to achieve. It is self-funding and was established by the Ormiston Trust to manage its Academies. It sponsors eleven Academies, including three in Sandwell and one in Walsall. A twelfth Academy, the Birmingham Ormiston Academy for creative, digital and performing arts, is planned to open in Digbeth next year. Continue reading

New public square unveiled

Newhall Square development

Developer RO St Bernards (ROSB) has opened a temporary public square at its Newhall Square scheme in Birmingham.

Newhall Square is a mixed-use development compromising offices, a Travelodge, leisure space and a car park, on the site of the former Science Museum.

The site runs along Newhall Street and Charlotte Street, and fronts the canal.

The scheme, once complete, will boast a new public square the size of five tennis courts. Continue reading

RO St Bernards (ROSB) has let the first floor of 6-7 Newhall Square, Birmingham, to Midlands Architecture and the Designed Environment (MADE).

MADE is the architecture centre for the West Midlands and was established to raise the standards of architecture, landscape and urban design across Birmingham and the region. It provides design advice to public, private and voluntary organisations and communities.

Funded by Advantage West Midlands, the Arts Council and CABE (the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment), MADE runs training courses, exhibitions and networking events for those working in the built environment. Continue reading
