Mills & Reeve advises on creation of groundbreaking Aston University Engineering Academy

National law firm Mills & Reeve has advised on the creation of a new £16 million university technical college in Birmingham.

Aston University Engineering Academy is the first university led and sponsored engineering academy to be created for 14 – 19 year olds in England. It offers science A-levels, engineering diplomas and apprenticeships, and has capacity for 600 students.

Mills & Reeve staff provide hands-on support for WellChild

Volunteers from the Birmingham office of national law firm Mills & Reeve LLP have completed two projects for WellChild, the national charity for sick children.

16-year-old cancer sufferer Karla Clarke, from Bedworth, received a bedroom make-over courtesy of Mills & Reeve staff Dawn Brathwaite, Surjit Deuer, Charlotte Mawdesley, Laura Taylor, Emma Farmer, Carolyn Martin, Laura O’Donnell and Lauren Grieve.

Top honours for Black Country law firm at Legal Awards

 

Ian Shovlin, Higgs & Son's managing partner, with the award for Law Firm of the Year

Black Country law firm Higgs & Sons proved it can mix it with Birmingham’s legal elite after it was named Law Firm of the Year at the Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards.

The firm beat of stiff competition from fellow finalists Browne Jacobson, DLA Piper, Eversheds and HBJ Gateley Wareing in the 16 partners and above category.
